Hugo James is the Managing Director of Palm Capital Partners LLP and a partner of Alpha Real Capital LLP.
Hugo has more than 20 years of financial services experience as both principal and advisor. Prior to Palm, Hugo was CEO of PensionsFirst Capital prior to its acquisition by Alpha and was previously a managing director, longevity markets group, at Credit Suisse within fixed income, responsible for UK actuarial risk. He led the £1.7 billion ITV longevity transaction and developed capital-efficient longevity risk transfer structures for UK and European insurers.
Prior to Credit Suisse, Hugo was a senior member of the annuities management team at Legal & General. He was responsible for origination and structuring of bulk annuities and the development of L&G's longevity offering. He oversaw the origination of approximately £3 billion of bulk annuities and led the refocusing of the business to reflect the changing de-risking market.
From 2003 – 2007 Mr James helped launch One World Leasing, a leasing business established by Oakwood Group. Initially part of the start-up management team where he was responsible for implementing the businesses sales launch and distribution strategy. He subsequently became CEO taking responsibility for implementing risk based pricing, enhanced risk analysis and an overhaul of the collections activities.
Prior to One World Leasing, Hugo had 10 years of corporate advisory experience initially with Beeson Gregory and then PwC. He spent five years focused on financial services industry with a focus on asset finance, consumer lending and debt collection.
Head of Real Estate
Patrick is Head of Real Estate at Palm Capital Partners LLP and a partner of Alpha Real Capital LLP. He joined as a partner of Alpha in January 2015 from CBRE, the world’s largest real estate advisor.
Patrick is a Chartered Surveyor focusing primarily on growing the group’s ground rent and other long income property businesses. He has 20 years’ experience in the property market, the majority which has been spent in an advisory role in the alternative property sectors (hotels, healthcare, pub and leisure).
His experience covers originating and structuring long income transactions across asset classes, investment advisory, portfolio transaction and valuation advice throughout Europe. Prior to CBRE Patrick was with Gerald Eve, Christie & Co and St Martins Property Corporation.
Director - Debt finance
Stan is a Director at Palm Capital Partners LLP, where he is responsible for structuring, sourcing and completing debt finance packages for real estate investors and developers.
Stan has 20 years’ experience in real estate finance as a lender, an advisor and in a principal capacity. He has been both a credit analyst and lender at Barclays Bank and Westdeutsche ImmobilienBank, has financed hotels at Bank of Ireland and residential developments at Bank Leumi.
At Consensus Business Group, he structured long term debt against residential ground rent portfolios and has recently raised debt for commercial property portfolios in the UK (Light Industrial and Logistics), Norway (Warehousing with Offices and Retail) and Germany (Office and Logistics) for funds advised by Alpha Real Capital.
His qualifications include a BSc (HONS) in Economics from Warwick University, Associateship of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and a Diploma from the Cambridge Land Institute in Property Investment.
Tom is an Associate Director at Palm Capital Partners LLP where he specialises in origination, structuring and placement solutions for investors with liability hedging, diversification and de-risking requirements.
Prior to Palm Capital Partners LLP, Tom was an investment consultant at Towers Watson for 5 years, advising UK defined benefit pension schemes and insurers on their investment strategies. He advised clients with in excess of £10 billion of assets on detailed portfolio construction decisions, focusing on their return seeking, liability hedging and dynamic de-risking strategies.
Prior to Towers Watson, Tom worked for Royal Bank of Scotland on their exotic interest rate desk.
Mr Benham is a Chartered Financial Analyst with a first class degree in economics and management from Sussex University.
Michael is an Investment Analyst at Palm Capital Partners LLP where he is responsible for the origination, pricing and structuring of transactions.
Michael is a Chartered Accountant with over 4 years of financial services experience in risk consulting and investment analyst roles. Prior to joining the team, Michael was a member of KPMG Sydney’s Risk Consulting practice advising Australian superannuation funds on their investment strategy, as well as on their market and procedural risk. Michael holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Sydney, and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand.
